This will involve us covering events, press releases, general news items and even the odd book that we find as part of our day.

Oracle PeopleSoft release

A couple of weeks ago Oracle announced the general availability of PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 including an update to the important PeopleTools module,  the foundation of many organisation’s customisations to the core PeopleSoft HCM product. It is good to see Oracle providing constant updates to the PeopleSoft platform while they continue to work on solutions such as Fusion and the integration of Taleo.

SuccessFactors Onboarding Purchase

SuccessFactors, An SAP Company, recent closed a deal to purchase certain assets of Onboarding solution provider KMS Software Company. At this stage neither company has published a public statement about the acquisition. According to discussions on LinkedIn all KMS customers received emails on 1 April saying “Welcome to SuccessFactors” this was further  supported by company representatives  confirming the purchase in the comments.

For SuccessFactors this is important in the Australian market as currently their only offering is through partnerships. The purchase of KMS’s onboarding platform will allow them to control the end to end delivery of onboarding services. As with all acquisitions the integration of the two products will be key, however given SuccessFactors’s recent past we feel they should have become good at this.

Payroll lessons from big implementations

Release late last month was Deloitte’s review of the troubled payroll implementation for New Zealand’s Ministry of Education. The report contained several recommendations and conclusions, while there is too much content to review here we would suggest anyone embarking on a major payroll system implementation to take a good look at the report.

The Queensland Health payroll implementation also had a report prepared by major consulting firms PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Ernst and Young and KPMG .

Pageup People Unified Analytics release

Local Talent Management Vendor Pageup People recently released their Unified Analytics platform, built on GoodData‘s cloud analytics platform. This offering provides HR professional who are responsible for recruitment and talent management functions a browser based analytics tool using one of the top cloud base analytics tools currently available.

Awards and Deals

Michael Howard, Founder and Managing Director of Frontier Software was recently named one of the Top 50 people in Payroll over the last year. While a UK based award it is good to see recognition of an Australia pioneer in the Payroll industry.

Finally NGA.NET has a signed a deal with Lockheed Martin to provide their eRecruit product, re-badged as StaffAcq360 product to US federal government agencies.
