October was an exciting month for us at Navigo Research – the US Conference (see our post here) and our new content focussed website launched. Here’s all the HR Tech news we’ve been tracking.
At the beginning of the month, actually while the HR Technology Conference was in full swing, Cornerstone OnDemand announced that they had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire privately-held Evolv. Evolv is focused on using analytics/big data to solve workforce performance issues and was recently named one of the world’s top 10 most innovative companies by Fast Company Magazine.
SAP is still struggling to migrate its business model from tradition on-premises (license up front) to the newer subscription based model provided by the cloud. Last week SAP announced a cut to their forecasted operating profit for the year. They now expect their 2014 operating profit to be between 5.6 billion to 5.8 billion euros down from 5.8-6.0 billion euros previously stated.
Local vendor PeopleStreme reported record quarterly growth of 70% year on year for the first quarter of the financial year. Commenting on the growth Peter Vlant COO for PeopleStreme said “This year we have seen a growth of 28%, due to great execution from both our New Business Development and Customer Experience Management teams.” PeopleStreme have also opened a new office in the US to increase support for the existing customers and drive new customer acquisition.
November sees the inaugural HR Tech Fest event taking place in Sydney across November 17 & 18. The event brings together a selection of fantastic speakers from both Australia and overseas. The international contingent includes Bill Boorman, Jason Averbook, William Tincup, Neil Morrision, and Laurie Ruettimann. Not to be out done by the international speakers the event will also have a large selection of local speakers including myself.
Also in November is the SAP User Group conference being held in Melbourne on November 12. The session will have a dedicated HR stream covering topics such as; Cloud, Analytics, User Experience, HR Renewal. Attendees who are members of AHRI will receive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours.
Talent management vendor Cognology formed a strategic partnership with learning content provider e3Learning allowing the e3Learning library to be integrated into Cognology’s Learning Management System. This partnership provides Cognology customers access to e3Learning’s award winning content library enabling them to manage compliance, including the scheduling of re-certification on a periodic basis.
The founders of New Zealand startup Fuel50, who featured in the US HR Tech conference’s Awesome New Startups, have released their book “The Career Engagement Game : Shaping careers for an agile workforce”. Fuel50 provides a career path software solution called CareerDrive. The tool delivers a unique career experience for each employee, from entry level through to management, with various combinations for targeting demographics within each tier.
CrowdSourceHire has been successfully accepted into muru-D’s second class. muru-D is a start-up accelerator backed by Telstra. As part of the process muru-D provides $40,000 seed capital investment in return for 6% equity in the business, valuing each startup at approximately $650K each. CrowdSourceHire provides a pre-hire assessments marketplace platform that crowdsources industry experts to assist with assessment of jobs for companies.
After moving much of its product into their Ci Anywhere platform TechnologyOne is seeing great successes in various industries.
The latest being Shellharbour City Council who purchased various modules including HR/Payroll. According to the press release Shellharbour City Council has moved from various best-of-breed solutions in to a “tightly integrated, future-proofed product” by deploying TechnologyOne. An interesting fact to note, one of the driving forces for the council was the ability to deliver solutions to enable their workforce to be truly mobile.
At the beginning of the month Workday released their new workforce planning module.
